Riverside East  

Peppermint Events are excited to offer a rare opportunity at their brand-new F+B Venue, Riverside East in Queen Elizabeth Park, London. Based in the heart of the iconic Olympic Park this venue will be re imagined to become a multi functioning destination F & B space, comprising of the large outside courtyard area which will host a rage of events from fan zones to Sunday markets all year round. The inside offering will come for a fully refurbished 2 storey café / restaurant space with the ground floor serving the varied passing trade from dog walkers, runners and students with a grab and go and small but inspiring seated all day brunch style menu. Upstairs features a stunning internal space with a large roof Terrace overlooking the area, this will deliver both evening dining, weekend brunch and Sunday roasts as well as being a bookable space for events. This venue has a seated dining capacity of 260 and will be open all year round with a late license available as required. Being both a food and drink led venue with programmed entertainment across both indoor and outdoor spaces, this is a great spot for families, students and sport fans whilst being a place for the community and a destination.  


What we are looking for 

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Head Chef to organise and take leadership of the kitchen activities. You will be passionate about the creation of food and will oversee the food operations and inspect dishes before they arrive at the customer’s table, ensuring high quality and contentment. Proving to have excellent organisational skills to manage the operations, workflow, and scheduling efficiency of both kitchen staff and food orders.  

You will possess exceptional attention to detail, with extensive culinary experience in various kitchen roles, with a high focus on producing delicious, creative and seasonal dishes that minimise waste. You will be a natural-born leader, with the ability to collaborate with all departments within the venue, to work harmoniously to provide exceptional service to all customers.  

During the first 12 months of this role, you will solely focus on the first restaurant venture Riverside East, with plans to grow within the company, as other F+B led sites are opened.  

Salary:  £50k, DOE + KPI bonus

Overview of Responsibilities 

  • Ensuring that every plate of food served at Riverside East and future venues is of a high international standard 
  • You will work closely with our founders, the menu development team, GM’s  
  • You are responsible for training programmes and implementing our menus 
  • You will be responsible for growing our initial café offer into a secondary restaurant and kitchen with a higher end focus.  
  • You will nurture supplier relationships with the Peppermint brand ethos and values in mind 
  • You are accountable for the overall financial FOOD performance of the cafe, restaurant and outdoor terrace  
  • You are responsible for implementing and maintaining high Health & Safety standards throughout the kitchens  
  • Control staff percentages and budgets   
  • Responsible for hiring your team and establishing ‘Peppermint Ways of Working Bible’ for the Peppermint kitchens 
  • You will be integral to the mobilisation of new food ventures. 


Key Skills & Experience 

  • 5 years + leading a demanding hospitality environment  
  • Previous experience opening a new restaurant at management level 
  • Experience leading a full brigade of chefs & kitchen porters with a diverse mixture of background and personalities 
  • You are a fantastic communicator 
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations 
  • Creative ability to taste, analyse and evaluate food  
  • London restaurant experience  
  • Ability to lead others  
  • Engaging, enthusiastic & motivated  
  • High degree of IT & spreadsheet proficiency 
  • Skills and experience with stocktaking and reporting  
  • We are looking for a minimum 3-year commitment

Business Specific Requirements

Operating Environment & Context

The business is very seasonal. Summer months are incredibly busy, with the busiest periods between May to September, and the month December. Many event sites are outdoor events and festivals on weekends.

Travel & Other Requirements

Travel required to and from events if required during the summer months. It is expected that you will visit certain events to assist the onsite teams, provide in person training and feedback or evaluate performance, system and process.

Overnight stays may be required but in conversation with yourself.
Evening and weekend availability is expected in the summer months during live events to assist where necessary. This can be remote. Overtime is paid.
