Marketing and Events Programming Manager - Riverside East

 Job Role: 

We are seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team, ahead of planned opening this Spring. The successful candidate will play an integral role, acting as the brand guardian for Riverside East – and all sub-brands within the venue, and the lead point of contact for all day-to-day marketing and programming related activities. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-starter with prior marketing and event co-ordination experience. You will support in driving overarching business objectives for the venue, through a combination of responsibilities.  


Reports to:  General Manager  

Rate of Pay: £40,000 – £45,000 depending on experience

Riverside East 

Riverside East is part of Peppermint Events and sits at the heart of the London Olympic Park.  

We seek a strategic professional with a proven record in hospitality marketing adept at collaborating with marketing agencies, digital partners, and corporate events agencies. This role includes working closely with the GM on the overall marketing strategy and spearheading the creation of Riverside East’s communication strategy including overseeing website creation. In addition, you will support on some B2B activity direct for Peppermint, primarily around social content.  


Who is Peppermint? 

Peppermint provides high-performance festival bars and event solutions to the world’s best entertainment businesses and consumer brands. Our core business is operating festival bars, event bars, festival brand activation and conjoined retail-led F & B solutions to the UK’s best sports events, festivals and outdoor events.   


Key Responsibilities 

Collaborate and oversee all marketing & event programming activations for the venue in tandem with appointed communications agency – supporting brand awareness, loyalty, lead generation and revenue 

Act as brand guardian – overseeing all marketing outputs to ensure all comms are in line with brand guidelines 

Work with appointed agency to deliver captivating content from launch and beyond, serving all comms channels and supporting brand awareness, loyalty and storytelling  

Orchestrate event programming across the venue – spanning initial outreach to possible partners through to co-ordination & delivery alongside ops team and agency   

Oversee marketing budgets effectively  

Lead on local relationship building – taking a proactive approach to immersing oneself and Riverside East with key brands and opinion-formers in the immediate area  

Take a data-led approach to decisions, providing in-depth understanding of day-to-day performance across all social platforms 

Build positive working relationships & communication methods with key departments on-site  


Strategic Launch: 

– Support the comprehensive launch strategy to position Riverside East as a distinctive and exciting brand.  

– Build the database and win over hearts and minds in this business that will thrive when local and destination audiences are fully engaged. 


Digital Campaign: 

– Craft and implement digital campaigns, optimizing SEO and SEM in collaboration with our digital agency.  

– Work with agency to review and refine digital strategies and enhance user engagement. 



– Cultivate and sustain relationships with local communities, businesses, and academic institutions, leveraging best practices in community engagement.  

– Liaise with corporate events agencies and local businesses to create mutually beneficial booking opportunities. 

– Develop lifestyle and hospitality industry relationships with influencers, promoters and relevant local contacts. 


Revenue Growth Strategies: 

– Formulate strategies across all Riverside East operations, implementing revenue management best practices.  

– Utilise CRM competencies for customer segmentation and targeted marketing to maximize revenue potential. 


Restaurant and Event Bookings Excellence: 

– Elevate restaurant reservations, applying customer experience best practices to enhance the booking process.  

– Collaborate with booking partners and marketing agencies to curate an exceptional event portfolio, incorporating effective event marketing disciplines. 


Agency Collaboration: 

– Interface effectively with marketing agencies, ensuring cohesive strategies aligned with Riverside East’s vision.  

– Coordinate closely with a digital agency, applying project management competencies for efficient campaign execution. 

– Engage with corporate events agencies, utilizing negotiation and partnership management best practices to enhance event planning and execution. 


Website Creation: 

– Spearhead the creation of Riverside East’s website, working with web development agencies to ensure an impactful online presence.  

– Apply user experience and design competencies for an engaging and user-friendly website. 



– To support B2B activity for Peppermint – primarily around social postings, blogs, website updates  

– Showcase Peppermint’s events and coordinating content through photography, video coordinating edits  

– Tie-in posts with partner venues including Between the Bridges, Freight Island, Dreamland, JCA Amsterdam and more 

– Represent and amplify Peppermint’s core values: People, Planet and Innovation  



Key Knowledge & Skills 

A strong understanding of brand strategy 

Knowledge of current digital marketing landscape, particularly around content marketing and social media 

Understanding of delivering to brand guidelines 

Passionate about marketing, and an eye for creativity and unique brand concepts  

Highly organised and a strong attention to detail 

Confident, calm, highly motivated, ambitious, flexible, conscientious and articulate 

Effective communicator – interacting between the venue team, customers, clients and marketing teams 

Diplomatic, helpful, clear thinking, and an effective delegator 

An ambassador for Riverside East, embracing our vision, mission and values 

Collaborative Approach: Work synergistically with the Site GM and external agencies, fostering a cohesive and results-oriented working relationship. Apply effective communication competencies to ensure alignment across all stakeholders.

Qualifications and experience 

– Degree level qualification, or similar relevant 

– Previous marketing & events experience (Minimum of 2/3 years preferably) 

– Hospitality experience beneficial  

– Keen interest and experience of social first video creation – especially TikTok or Reels (a plus)

Business Specific Requirements

Operating Environment & Context

The business is very seasonal. Summer months are incredibly busy, with the busiest periods between May to September, and the month December. Many event sites are outdoor events and festivals on weekends.

Travel & Other Requirements

Travel required to and from events if required during the summer months. It is expected that you will visit certain events to assist the onsite teams, provide in person training and feedback or evaluate performance, system and process.

Overnight stays may be required but in conversation with yourself.
Evening and weekend availability is expected in the summer months during live events to assist where necessary. This can be remote. Overtime is paid.
