Assistant Bar Manager- Summer Festivals 2024

Job Overview:
Join our festival team as a Festival Assistant Bar Manager, a key player in delivering exceptional beverage experiences. We’re seeking a dynamic and organized individual to support the Bar Manager in overseeing operations across various festival bars, including VIP areas, brand sponsor activations, and bars of different sizes. This role may involve overseeing 100+ bar staff on our large bars, with responsibilities are split between Stock, Tech, Staffing, or Cellar management.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Assist the Bar Manager in leading a team of bartenders, providing guidance, training, and motivation for outstanding service.

Operational Support: Contribute to the smooth operation of various festival bars, ensuring efficiency across VIP areas, brand sponsor activations, and bars of different sizes.

Customer Interaction: Engage with customers, addressing concerns promptly, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.

Inventory Management: Support in monitoring and managing bar stock levels, implementing systems to prevent waste.

Quality Assurance: Ensure all bar staff are confident and trained in serving each drink correctly. Provide constructive feedback and further training if needed.

Compliance and Safety: Uphold health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service. Support with licensing and Challenge 25, ensuring bar staff ask customers for ID and are knowledgeable about acceptable forms.

Diverse Bar Areas: Work on all types of bars, including VIP areas, brand sponsors, activations, small/medium, and large bars, overseeing 100+ bar staff.

Large Bars Responsibilities: On large bars, responsibilities may be split to oversee Stock, Tech, Staffing, or Cellar management, offering opportunities for progression.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Bar Manager and other festival management to ensure seamless coordination.

Problem Resolution: Address any operational concerns promptly and effectively. Work proactively to identify and resolve issues before they impact the running of the bar.

Flexibility: Adapt to changing circumstances, schedules, and responsibilities as required by the dynamic nature of festival environments.

Qualifications:

• Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, festival environment.
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and collaborate with the team.

Desirable:
• Experience within the hospitality industry, with a focus on festivals or large-scale events (desirable but not essential).
• Personal Licence Holder
• First Aid Qualification

Working Conditions:
This role involves working in a dynamic festival environment, with varying schedules based on festival timings. You may be responsible for overseeing bars of different sizes and types, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for festival-goers.

Operating Environment & Context:
The business is seasonal. Summer months are incredibly busy – busiest periods between June and September. Many event sites are outdoor events and festivals and camping onsite is available, please note, for camping shows, you will need to provide your own tent and camping supplies.

Business Specific Requirements

Operating Environment & Context

The business is very seasonal. Summer months are incredibly busy, with the busiest periods between May to September, and the month December. Many event sites are outdoor events and festivals on weekends.

Travel & Other Requirements

Travel required to and from events if required during the summer months. It is expected that you will visit certain events to assist the onsite teams, provide in person training and feedback or evaluate performance, system and process.

Overnight stays may be required but in conversation with yourself.
Evening and weekend availability is expected in the summer months during live events to assist where necessary. This can be remote. Overtime is paid.
